How to follow the graphic chart?
Follow the stitch symbols in the chart from the right to the left, from bottom to top.
Start your work by row no. 1 by the stitches before first right arrow (i.e. from odd row numbers) , continue by repeating the sequence of stitch symbols between the two arrows and finish the row by the stitches after the second (left) arrow.
Usually the row no. 2 (as like as other WS rows) is not displayed in the chart.
It means: you will work all the WS stitches as you see them (i.e. knit knitted sts, purl purled sts, unless individual signs say otherwise)
If there are no arrows in the chart, you have to repeat the complete sequence of the symbols in every horizontal row.
K1 = Knit 1 stitch (videohelp), purl in WS
K1B = Knit Through the Back Loop (videohelp), purl through the back loop in WS (videohelp)
P1 = Purl 1 stitch (videohelp), knit in WS
Garter stitch (knit in RS, knit in WS)
Garter stitch (purl in RS, purl in WS)
M1, P in WS = Pick up a stitch from the horizontal strand
between needles (videohelp), purl in WS
YO = Yarn over (videohelp), purl in WS
M1, K in WS = Pick up a stitch from the horizontal strand
between needles (videhelp), knit in WS
M1A, P in WS = Make one away (videohelp), Purl in WS
M1A, K in WS = Make one away (videohelp), Knit in WS
KFB (Bar Increase) = Knit front and back, Knit a stitch, leaving stitch on left needle; knit into the back loop of this stitch. (videohelp)
K-b = Knit stitch in row below. (videohelp)
S1 kw = Slip 1 knitwise (videohelp)
S1 pw = Slip 1 purlwise (videohelp)
Empty square: no stitch, it is just for graphic look.
Bobble (videhelp)
K2tog = Knit 2 sts together (videohelp)
SSK = slip, slip, knit slipped stitches tog. A decrease (videohelp)
K3tog = Knit 3 stitches together (A right-slant double decrease)
SSSK = Slip, slip, slip, knit 3 slipped stitches together. (A left-slant double decrease – videhelp)
CDD – centered double decrease. sl2 tog, K1,
pass the slipped stitches over (videohelp)
KFBF (Double Increase) = Knit front and back and front, Knit a stitch, leaving stitch on left needle; knit into the back loop of this stitch and once more into the stitch . (videohelp)
C1L (Make a left slanting cable 1k st over 1k st)
C1R (Make a right slanting cable 1k st over 1k st)
C1L: K1B over P1 (Make a left slanting cable)
C1R: K1B over P1 (Make a right slanting cable)
C1L: SL1K (=slip 1 knitwise) over K1 (Make a left slanting cable )
Cross 3 sts to the left – 1k st over 2k sts
Cross 3 sts to the right – 1k st over 2k sts
Cross 3 sts to the left – 2k sts over 1p st
Cross 3 sts to the right – 2k sts over 1p st
Cross 4 sts to the left – 3k sts over 1p st
